About the Therapist

Mr. M. Akhtar, Counselling Psychologist, BSc (Hons), and Clinical Sports Therapist, SAC Dip.
MY EXPERIENCE
Akhtar has been a compassionate, dedicated professional since his 20s, starting as an Enhanced Caseworker for Victim Support, a UK charity that helps those in distress. He has cared for people facing domestic abuse, bereavement, and homicide, while also supporting junior staff. His journey continued in mental health work with the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, where he provided assessments, screenings, and referrals in Milton Keynes and London. During his studies, he was a deputy manager in GP surgeries and NHS hospitals, gaining valuable experience. Since 2004, he has specialised in Behaviour Therapy and Family Counselling, aiming to make a positive impact. Akhtar has listened to many individuals with mental health challenges, offering a warm, supportive space to help them cope, manage problems, and nurture relationships. His holistic counselling approach recognises each person as unique, providing a safe, encouraging environment. He works under supervision to deliver clinical support and mentor colleagues, sharing his knowledge. His passion for clinical writing and research continues to grow; he maintains a blog and contributes regularly.
