About the Therapist

Mr. M. Akhtar, Counselling Psychologist, BSc (Hons), and Clinical Sports Therapist, SAC Dip.
MY EXPERIENCE
Akhtar began as an Enhanced Caseworker for Victim Support, a UK charity, providing support and advocacy to those in distress since his 20s. He managed caseloads involving domestic abuse, bereavement, and homicide while supporting junior staff.
He then worked in mental health with the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust, serving Milton Keynes and various London boroughs. He provided specialist assessments, clinical screenings, and referrals as needed, following clinical pathway guidelines.
While studying, Akhtar was a deputy manager in GP surgeries and NHS hospitals. Since 2004, he has developed expertise in Behaviour Therapy and Family Counselling.
Akhtar has listened to many individuals struggling with mental health, utilising his skills to help them cope and manage issues while empowering them to make changes and improve their relationships.
His holistic and integrative counselling approach views individuals as unique and offers a nonjudgmental space. He provides clinical support under supervision and continues to support colleagues in counselling.
Akhtar’s dedication to clinical writing and research is evident through his ongoing efforts. He also maintains a blog and contributes regularly.
