Why Counselling?
People come to counselling for various reasons, some may want to have a better social awareness or to better their communication in sustaining a relationship, even parental struggles with a child or children-related issues that seem too difficult to manage, even those struggling with internal battles such as anger related issues and anxiety being a concern in life goal progression.
Four key methods used in my approach to counselling are:
-
Using unconditional positive regard – Unconditional acceptance.
-
Having empathic understanding – From the client’s perspective.
-
Expressing congruence – Honest and genuine approach.
-
Raising questions – Challenges the client to express themselves.
How counselling supports you:

-
Aiming to make sense of issues and understand yourself better.
-
It aids you to resolve complicated feelings or find ways to live with them.
-

-
Provides you with individual or group counselling.
Services offered
Support individuals, couples, and families facing life changes, identity crises, employment issues, and well-being concerns. This includes support for bereavement, homicide-related issues, and those facing terminal illness. Domestic-related issues, self-harm, or suicidal tendencies, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Anxiety, depression, loneliness, anger, aggression, stress, lack of confidence, bullying, low self-worth, and guilt. And many more.
Telephone Therapy
Telephone counselling initially started for crisis support, now catering to busy individuals who need counselling and often for those who are nervous or fearful and want to keep anonymity.
This service is accessible to people from all groups, regardless of location, which adds extra security for counselling provided out of town.
“Telephone counselling provides a sense of confidentiality, anonymity and reassuring if you feel nervous, embarrassed or fearful about talking” Counselling Directory.
Online Therapy
Online counselling is the most resourceful tool in therapy, as it allows you remote access, especially for those with physical limitations or a demanding career. Being behind the screen enables more anonymity, allowing us to separate our actions from the real world and identity, feeling less vulnerable about opening up.
We may feel intimidated to speak our minds to people in person because of their status, gender, or race. However, online, this is less visible, making us feel freer to express ourselves authentically.
“Online counselling offers a greater sense of calm, making it easier for clients to discuss their issues” UK Therapy Guide.
Outdoor Therapy - Click here for supporting evidence.
Outdoor counselling is the most effective tool for promoting mental health and physical well-being. Connecting with nature and promoting dialogue can boost mood and self-esteem, improve focus and attention, and reduce stress and anxiety.
Studies show that 20 minutes of being in nature can significantly reduce cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress.
If you feel anxious or claustrophobic in a clinical setting, outdoor counselling might be beneficial. Being outdoors provides a change of scenery, enabling new perspectives, and physical relaxation can help you open up more easily.
Walking or sitting side by side also provides a sense of equality and union in the relationship between the counsellor and the client.
Being outdoors releases endorphins which are a feel-good brain chemical. Endorphins function as a natural pain and stress relievers.
“Getting out in the open air is often recommended for improving mental health and wellbeing, so it’s not surprising that outdoor therapy is becoming increasingly popular” BABCP.

How does your appointment system work?We offer a self-booking system in place so you won’t feel pressured to book more than what you believe is required. However, the therapist may recommend how many sessions you may need including the frequency this is to ensure you do not relapse in your wellbeing. The sessions we offer are in-person, online and via telephone to meet all service users’ needs and requirements. We are open 7 days per week late evenings and weekends, including public holidays.

Is counselling and psychology the same thing?A counsellor will use a client-centred approach to develop an understanding into the behaviour or feelings to overcome issues of concern and difficulty. For some clients, a simple act of talking may help for others a tailored approach is required. Psychologists also teach clients healthy patterns to deal with challenges. However, using clinical research, they can support a wider group of people living with specific conditions.
-
Who do you provide your services to?Services are provided to individual, couples and families. Adult and children from pre-school age 5 onward.
-
Is the counsellor right for me?With no right answer, it all depends on who you can click with. Finding a therapist who provides a safe space, aims to understand your situation, asks clarifying questions, and accepts you unconditionally, you should not look for a therapist to seek approval. Once you found the right person, you will eventually see a more fulfilling process take place.

How does counselling help in improving social awareness and communication in relationships?Counselling helps individuals develop social awareness by exploring their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in a safe environment. It also enhances communication skills by encouraging open dialogue and active listening.
