Anger Management Counselling in London & Online

Professional counselling to understand anger, recognise triggers and explore the thoughts, emotions and behavioural patterns influencing how you respond.

Understanding Anger

Anger is a normal emotion, but it can become difficult when reactions feel disproportionate, difficult to control or begin affecting relationships, work and everyday life.

You may notice irritability, frustration, verbal conflict, withdrawal, resentment or reactions that you later regret.

Sometimes the immediate trigger is only part of what is happening. Therapy can help explore the thoughts, assumptions, expectations and experiences underlying your response.

How Anger Management Counselling Can Help

Therapy may help you:

  • Identify personal triggers and warning signs

  • Understand thoughts and interpretations that intensify anger

  • Recognise recurring emotional and behavioural patterns

  • Explore underlying stress, hurt, frustration or past experiences

  • Develop greater control over how you respond

  • Improve communication during disagreement and conflict

  • Consider the impact of your reactions on yourself and others

The aim is not to eliminate anger. It is to understand it better and develop greater choice over how you respond when anger arises.

My Approach to Anger Management

Anger management is not simply about learning techniques to calm down.

We may examine what happened, how you interpreted the situation, what you expected, what you felt and how you responded. This can help identify patterns that may otherwise happen automatically.

Where appropriate, I may question assumptions, explore alternative interpretations and respectfully challenge thinking or behaviour that could be contributing to repeated conflict.

My integrative approach may draw upon CBT-informed work, psychological understanding and reflective exploration according to your circumstances.

What to Expect

The initial session explores what has brought you to therapy, situations in which anger becomes difficult and what you would like to change.

Sessions are typically 50 minutes.

We may examine recent situations in detail to understand the sequence between trigger → thought or interpretation → emotion → response → consequence.

Over time, the aim is to develop greater awareness before reactions become automatic and consider more constructive ways of responding.
